Our family-based service, delivered by a multidisciplinary team, offers holistic assessment and management of obesity for those children/adolescents with BMI > 99.6th percentile plus two health complications.
Our expert team includes professionals from paediatric endocrinology, adolescent medicine, nursing, dietetics, physiotherapy, psychology, medical social work, occupational therapy, and administrative support. We provide families with support related to nutrition, self-esteem, family communication, physical fitness, sleep and activity through education, rehabilitation, goal setting, and practical skills delivered in a safe, respectful and non-stigmatising environment. Where indicated, our paediatricians may prescribe pharmacotherapy.
We focus on promoting a sensitive, respectful, and empowering service with an overall aim of health-gain rather than weight-loss. Through evidence-based assessments, we screen for physical and emotional difficulties, identify strengths and form personalised treatment plans. We empower families to achieve the healthiest lifestyle possible for them, regardless of the type or stage of obesity the child/adolescent presents with.
Clinics take place in both CHI at Temple Street and CHI at Connolly.
