Cancellation of non-urgent activity ahead of severe weather, Children’s Health Ireland
Extreme weather is expected across most of Ireland over the next couple of days, with Red Weather Warnings forecast for Friday 24 January.

A status red severe weather warning means ‘shelter in place’. People in the areas affected by red warnings should stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel and take action to protect themselves and their properties.
In preparation, and to ensure our staff can continue to provide life-saving treatment to children and young people, all non-urgent activity is cancelled for Friday, 24 January. Appointments will be rescheduled and families will be contacted by the relevant services to reschedule.
Our appointments-based Urgent Care Centre at CHI at Connolly will close tomorrow.
Emergency services through Children’s Health Ireland will be maintained through this period of high warning and our Emergency Departments at CHI at Temple Street and Crumlin, the Emergency Care Unit at CHI at Tallaght remain open for urgent and life-saving care.
The following services are cancelled, Friday 24 January 2025:
- Outpatient appointments
- Elective surgery (non-time critical, non-urgent)
