Biography
Dr Barry Scanlan is the current Specialty Lead for General Paediatrics in Children’s Health Ireland. He is a graduate of University College Dublin, following internship he began Specialty Training in Paediatrics. To augment his specialty training he undertook fellowships in General Paediatrics and Hospital-in-the-Home at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. His research interests centre on reducing the need for hospital admission or reducing lengths of inpatient stay. He completed a PhD in the University of Melbourne entitled, ‘Urinary tract infection in children – changing the management paradigm so more children can be treated at home’. He is an Adjunct Clinical Lecturer/Assistant Professor in the Department of Paediatrics, University College Dublin.
