Referrals from GPs and Secondary Care Paediatricians are accepted via Healthlink or as typed letters.
Emailed referrals are discouraged. All referrals are triaged according to the information provided.
Referrals for the following conditions are encouraged:
- Anaphylaxis
- Immediate type Food Allergy
- Allergic Rhino-conjunctivitis unresponsive to treatment with oral antihistamines and nasal steroid sprays and/or antihistamine eyedrops
- Food Protein Induced Enterocolitis (FPIES)
- Recalcitrant Chronic Spontaneous or Physical Urticaria for consideration for second line therapy (Omalizumab)
- Drug allergy/ delabelling
- Venom Allergy
- Vaccine Allergy
Referrals discouraged: - Screening for food allergy due to sibling history
- Screening for antibiotic allergy or venom allergy due to family history
- Allergy testing in the Management of Atopic Dermatitis
- Allergy testing in the management of non-allergic urticaria
- Investigation of possible delayed Cows Milk allergy in children with abdominal symptoms.
