Maple Ward
Maple Ward is a 21-cubicle unit that includes 5 parent and child rooms for children aged 0-1 with medical and surgical conditions.
Current visiting policy
There is a maximum of 2 other visitors per patient on this ward. These visitors should be over 18 years of age or accompanied by someone who is. Visitor restrictions may apply in some circumstances which will be advised by the nursing staff. If restrictions are in place, they are in the best interest of the child or parent and for confidentiality reasons we may not be able to explain the purpose of these restrictions.
Staying with your child
Parents/Guardians have no restrictions when visiting their child. Cot sides must be up at all times when child is in the cot and there is a telephone in the room for incoming calls only. Please inform staff if you are leaving a child unattended.
Facilities
Parents kitchen is available to all Parents/Guardians. We kindly request that no patients are in the kitchen during their stay. This facility allows parents time to make a cuppa and space to think.
Parents' accommodation is also available for those who wish to say overnight, this is located near the ward area. No children are allowed in this area. If you do not wish to avail of this or wish to stay at your child's bedside every effort will be made to provide a camp bed for you. Camp beds must be folded away during the day to allow for easy access and cleaning. Bathroom and shower facilities are available for resident parents.
Please bring nappies for the duration of the child's admission.
Meal times
Milk formula is available on the ward and made up daily in the formula room. There are also breastfeeding pumps available for mothers who wish to use them.
No hot drinks are permitted in this ward for health and safety reasons.
Please inform staff on admission of any special dietary requirements.
