Arts in Health Programme - Creating Rainbows Summer Camps

As part of Children's Health Ireland's commitment to placing arts, creativity, and imagination at the heart of the child's and young person's experience, we are developing an Arts Programme for the new children's hospital and paediatric outpatient and urgent care centres.

In July, the Arts in Health team kicked off their Creating Rainbows Summer Camps for three weeks of artistic and creative fun! These summer camps explore the creative possibilities of light, shadow, and rainbows with artists Fernanda Ferrari and Remco deFouw.

The inspiration for our camps comes from the Dandelion Clocks, a series of five sculptures created by Remco deFouw that will be installed in our new children's hospital, CHI at Connolly and CHI at Tallaght. The Creating Rainbows Camps have been taking place this week in IMMA for children of CHI staff, while our camps in Draiocht and Rua Red are open to children from the local area close to CHI at Connolly and CHI at Tallaght. We have been having so much fun discovering the science and creativity that has been the inspiration for Remco's amazing artworks.

We believe that the arts can play a vital role in the healing process, and we are excited to offer these summer camps to children and young people who are facing challenges in their lives. We hope that these camps will provide a space for children to express themselves creatively, to learn new skills, and to make new friends.
