How many AGVs will there be at the New Children's Hospital?

Twenty Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) have been bought for the new hospital.

How will they work?

They will make sure food and other supplies get to patient rooms quickly and safely, helping CHI staff to take excellent care of patients.

For food deliveries specifically, they will transport catering trolleys from the catering department to nutrient stations. From there, the trolleys will be manually moved by staff to the patients’ rooms.

The AGVs will help and make the jobs of support, portering, catering, and logistics teams easier, safer, and more efficient.

What was the main reason robots were selected?

Due to the size of the new children’s hospital, the distance between the catering department and the nutrient stations is quite far. Using AGVs will reduce the risk of strain on staff and safeguards their time to spend taking care of patients.

Benefits of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) in the hospital include:

Faster Delivery: AGVs can quickly move food, medicines, and supplies around the hospital, ensuring patients get what they need promptly.

Reduced Staff Strain: By handling long-distance transport tasks, AGVs reduce the physical strain on hospital staff, preventing injuries and fatigue.

Safeguarding time for Patient Care: With AGVs taking over repetitive tasks, staff can focus on more important duties, improving overall efficiency and patient care.

Consistent Service: AGVs work all day without breaks, providing consistent and reliable delivery of goods throughout the hospital.

Improved Safety: AGVs reduce the risk of accidents related to manual transport of heavy or bulky items.

Better Resource Management: AGVs can help us to manage resources more effectively by ensuring timely and accurate delivery of supplies.

Flexibility: AGVs can be programmed to handle various tasks and routes, making them adaptable to the changing needs of the hospital.
