News

If you need care, visit your pharmacy, GP or family doctor, GP Out of Hours, or an injury unit for non-serious issues like fractures or burns. If there are visiting restrictions in hospitals due to flu or other infections, please cooperate with staff. Also, remember to wash your hands and cover your coughs and sneezes. If you're child is having trouble breathing or feel chest pain, go to the emergency department or call 112 or 999

Being infection aware

People who need treatment in a hospital or clinic are often more vulnerable to infection than other people.

Protect yourself and others in hospital by:

  • cleaning your hands regularly and using hand sanitiser gel
  • not sharing your personal items with patients - such as your phone or earphones
  • keeping away from patients' beds
  • covering your coughs or sneezes with a tissue or your sleeve - put used tissues into a bin and wash your hands

Face masks

You may be asked to wear a face mask when visiting some health and care settings. The healthcare team will let you know if you need to.

Anyone who wants to wear a face mask to protect themselves and others should do so.
